As we know that Saturn takes two and half years to transit one sign that means it is the transit of Saturn over three signs. Sadesati starts when Saturn transit over the 12th house from the natal moon, it ends when Saturn transit in the second house of the natal moon. We can say that the transit of Saturn over three signs meaning 90 degrees, 45 degrees ahead and 45 degrees behind the moon.
